Our passion is backed by decades of experience in the coffee industry. Founded by Wolfgang Hauck, ECM has embodied his vision of bringing professional-grade espresso into homes since 1996. Today, ECM continues to thrive under the guidance of Michael Hauck, the second generation, expanding this legacy into grinders, accessories, and commercial machines, bringing coffee excellence to an even broader audience. Together with our sister company Profitec, we live by the motto “MAKE COFFEE YOURS”.

Our History - 1996

Company foundation and the first project

In 1996, Wolfgang Hauck founded ECM GmbH and, in collaboration with ECM SPA, implemented his idea of developing and marketing espresso machines for the upscale household and office sector.

1997

Development of the Technika

According to our technical specifications and design concepts, the project of the first Technika was developed.

2003

Registration of the EU trademark “ECM”

In October 2003, the “ECM” brand was registered in the European Union. Since its entry into the EU trademark register in 2005, the “ECM” brand has been protected throughout Europe. This was the first step towards becoming a globally protected brand, which it has become 25 years after its founding.

2005

Termination of cooperation with ECM SpA

The design and construction, and thus the entire product development, was relocated to Germany.

2007

Taking over the entire production in-house

In 2007, we decided to manufacture all our machines at our own production facility in Milan. Since then, every ECM product has been handcrafted and tested to the highest standards.

2009

Michael Hauck becomes additional managing director

Michael, Wolfgang Hauck’s son, is appointed managing director alongside his father. He has been working for the company since graduating in England in 2005.

2010

Patent application for the modified ECM brew group

We are further developing the legendary E61 brewing unit and have applied for a patent.

2011

ECM Commercial Line

With the first multi-group machines of the Commercial Line, the portfolio is expanded to include solutions for professional use. The Technika Profi Due is introduced as the first machine of this series on the market.

2014

ECM grinder production

After two years of development, we began producing our own S64 grinders to complement our espresso machines and offer a complete range of products from our own manufacturing facilities.

2016

ECM Synchronika

The Synchronika is launched on the market, expanding the Home Line range with a dual boiler. It is handmade in Germany and combines years of passion, skill, and finesse.

2021

25 years of passion for espresso

Our company anniversary was celebrated with a limited edition of 1,250 Synchronika machines, reflecting our passion for espresso and design in every detail. Entirely in anthracite, accented with high-quality olive wood handles, elegant pressure gauges with stainless steel dials, and a numbered stainless steel emblem, the anniversary edition was crafted with unique care and attention to detail.

2025

ECM Estetika

The new ECM Estetika complements our range with a modern dual boiler with heated ring brewing group. Thanks to additional technical advancements, the Estetika represents an important step in the further development of our machine portfolio.
